Honoring the Sacrifices of Freedom Fighters

India’s freedom struggle is a tale of immense courage and sacrifice. To instill patriotism and appreciation for this history among young minds, the Union Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education organized ‘Veer Katha 4.0’, a nationwide competition.

Students from Grades 3 to 12 were encouraged to showcase their artistic and literary talents through poetry, essays, and artwork dedicated to India’s freedom fighters. The competition received overwhelming participation from schools across the country, and among the winners, five talented students from Tamil Nadu have made the state immensely proud.

As a reward for their outstanding contributions, these young achievers have been invited to attend the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi as special guests!

Meet Tamil Nadu’s Brightest Young Minds

S. V. Guru Prasad – A Tribute in Colors

In the drawing/painting category, S. V. Guru Prasad, a student of Vikas Vidhyalaya, Oomachikulam, Thiruppuvanam, emerged as a winner in the Grades 3 to 5 division. His artwork beautifully captured the courage and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, earning him national recognition. His vibrant strokes conveyed emotions words often fail to express.

Aaruli Younita D – Words That Inspire

Aaruli Younita D, studying at Sri Vishnu School, Arasu Higher Secondary School, and Nidhi Uthavi Meiporul School in Thiruvannamalai, excelled in the essay writing category for Grades 6 to 8. Her thought-provoking essay shed light on the struggles and sacrifices of India’s unsung heroes, bringing out the emotional depth and historical significance of their journey toward independence.

Prunitha E – Penning the Power of Patriotism

In the Grades 9 to 10 essay writing category, Prunitha E from Arasu Matric Higher Secondary School, Eraniel, Ramanathapuram, stood out with her compelling narrative. She delved deep into historical facts and wove them into a beautifully articulated essay that resonated with the competition’s theme of honoring India’s freedom fighters.

Sathya Sri K – A Voice for the Bravehearts

Also competing in the Grades 9 to 10 essay writing category, Sathya Sri K from Pudhiya Uyirini Chemmalai Matric Higher Secondary School, Kumbakonam, impressed the judges with her passionate storytelling. Her work emphasized the resilience and selfless spirit of India’s national heroes, making it a deserving entry in the national-level competition.

Merlin Shalini – Poetry That Moves the Soul

Poetry has the power to evoke strong emotions, and Merlin Shalini from Vinayaka Vidyalaya, West Kottai, Coimbatore, did just that. Competing in the Grades 11 to 12 poetry category, her verses painted a poignant picture of sacrifice, bravery, and unwavering determination. Her words served as a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs who laid the foundation for India’s independence.

A Moment of Pride for Tamil Nadu

The outstanding achievements of these students have placed Tamil Nadu in the national spotlight. Their creativity, dedication, and passion for India’s history have won them a place at the grand Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, where they will be honored for their contributions.

Tamil Nadu’s School Education Minister, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, took to Instagram to share this proud moment, applauding the students and their teachers for their relentless efforts in bringing this recognition to the state.
